Meanwhile on the left coast

While we are bitching and griping about the weather (cold, ice, snow, wind). In beautiful sunny Southern California our friend JoMae is suffering "severe weather" and staying up all night to make sure here house doesn't sail away. We had it up to 52F yestereday and today it made it to 58F. Got the Segway out and went to get groceries. Tomorrow the high is forecast to be 20F!

Hibernation

This is the boring part of Winter. Bitterly cold, too much ice to use the Segway, just plain nasty. There are books though. This is a wonderful time to bury oneself in some great books. That and eat well, drink too much wine and wait for Spring!

Then last night we had Fettucini al Troppo Fredo

Mother Nature is so messy.

3" to 6" was forecast and we barely got 2". Still, that called for the blower and the shovels and finally our sidewalks were immaculate.
Next morning, (today), we get a flurry and all my hard work was for naught. Damned if I was going to go out there (12F) so I sat around and enjoyed some music and a good book. Well, while I was doing that a windstorm came and blew away all the snow that had fallen. Thanks!
It's warmed up to 17F, but that is just a good excuse for a pot of Cajun Pea Soup.

Out with the old - In with the new!

The snow and ice from the last storm had just about gone. So, of course, it is time for another one. Right now the white stuff is coming down nicely and will be through the night. Fortunately, I made my Segway run at 9:00AM to get some needed supplies. So, we are stocked up -Food, Wine, Smokes, and just for good measure there is some Scotch left too.
Tomorrow will be dig and blow day.
But it is sooo pretty!

On Colder Days

Like today. It's a question of waiting for it to get to 28, if it gets that warm. Then I'll be off to the grocery store to stock up. The forecast lows are for it to be 0F by Sunday. The Segway batteries go down to 14F but the rider doesn't. Time to stock up and hunker down.

On Milder Days

Now, in January, it takes a parka, hat, cardigan, gloves, but it is still possible. The Ice has finally gone, so this is how I do all my grocery shopping. Lotsa fun.
